Confession Time

We’ve committed a deadly sin...  (or two)!

Shocking isn’t it!

Along with so many of you, the past few months have been spent navigating our internal and external challenges

From the difficulties posed by the emergence of Covid 19; the stretch involved in unexpectedly having to update the 7 Deadly Sins of Women in Leadership book; the crazy demands and ongoing traumas of the Kairos moment that has been Black Lives Matter (yes they do!); the sudden and painful loss of 3 friends no longer with us, personal health challenges, the growth in international opportunities with the inevitable reprioritisation needed, as well as ‘the usual suspects’ of pre-existing commitments, deadlines and life!

As you can imagine all this led to us ‘running on empty’, somewhat overextended and a little worn out.  Like many of you, we had been feeling the toll which had largely gone unnoticed... by us.  Then a great friend challenged us with the words… be kind to yourselves

These words felt like a handbrake turn – stopping us in our tracks and causing us to rethink the moment!  We were simply ploughing ahead and hadn’t paused long enough to consider what was happening or what we were modelling (hmmm ‘physician heal thyself’ comes to mind)!

The challenges women face worldwide have been exacerbated by the pandemic, while at the same time the stakes for women’s leadership have never been higher and we sense that the next season will be even more critical than this one.

So, in recognition of God’s prompting through our good friend, our act of kindness to ourselves is to slow down, even as everything else speeds up.  Therefore, we shall be deferring the She Rises programme until Spring 2021 and offer it in a couple of different formats. This will coincide with the launch of the updated edition of Kate’s book in April 2021.  We not only want to ensure that this programme will be all that it needs to be – to meet your leadership needs at a critical time, we also want to continue to ‘walk our talk’ and avoid every deadly sin possible!

Deadly Sins aside, why not pause to reflect on what being kind to yourself might look like… and reflect on whether all this activity is really enabling you to become who God is calling you to be (Philippians 3:12).
